Overview
Butters is a private relationship app. This policy explains what
information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and how
you can request deletion or support.
By using Butters, you understand that some information is
processed by trusted infrastructure providers so the app can sign
you in, sync private content, deliver notifications, and support
subscriptions.
Information We Collect
We collect the account details you provide or authorize through
sign-in, such as your email address, display name, profile photo,
and basic authentication identifiers.
We collect relationship content you create inside the app,
including profile details, important dates, moments, albums,
uploaded photos, wall posts, reminder activity, gift preferences,
and voucher-related actions.
If you enable notifications, we collect device push tokens and
delivery metadata needed to send reminders and alerts.
If you join through an invite or trial flow, we may also store
invite codes, survey responses, trial dates, subscription status,
and plan-lifecycle events.
How We Use Information
We use your information to operate the app, pair accounts,
display private shared content, deliver reminders and
notifications, manage plans and subscriptions, provide customer
support, and keep the product secure.
We may also use de-identified or aggregated product signals, such
as feature usage or survey themes, to improve the roadmap and
user experience.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not publish your
private relationship content publicly on your behalf.
How Information Is Shared
Your relationship content is shared only with the account or
accounts connected to the same private relationship space in
Butters.
We share information with service providers that help us operate
the app, such as Supabase for authentication, database, storage,
and server functions; Firebase for push messaging; and RevenueCat
plus the Apple App Store or Google Play for subscriptions and
purchase status.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to enforce
our terms, or to protect the safety, rights, or security of our
users, team, or platform.
Subscriptions and Payments
If you subscribe to Pro, purchases are processed by your app
store and related subscription status may be synchronized through
RevenueCat so Butters can determine whether paid features should
remain active.
We do not receive or store your full payment card details
directly inside Butters.
Refunds, billing disputes, renewals, cancellations, and
store-specific subscription rules are governed by the Apple App
Store or Google Play policies that apply to your purchase.
Retention, Hiding, and Deletion
We keep account and relationship data while your account is
active and needed to operate the app.
If a trial ends and the account moves to Free, content above the
Free plan limits may be hidden first and then permanently deleted
after the applicable grace period if you do not upgrade.
You can request deletion by using the in-app delete-account flow
or contacting support. Some limited records may be retained for
fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute handling, or security
logs where reasonably necessary.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to
protect account data, but no online service can guarantee
absolute security.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device,
account access, and any third-party sign-in credentials used with
Butters.
Age Requirement
Butters is intended only for adults who are at least 18 years old.
If we learn that an underage person has created an account, we
may suspend or delete that account and associated data.
International Processing and Changes
Your information may be processed in countries where our service
providers operate. By using Butters, you understand that data may
be transferred and stored outside your home country where
permitted by law.
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material
changes, we may update this policy in the app, on the website, or
both where appropriate.
